HI! I'm Elizabeth.
I’m a UX designer, with an education in design thinking and innovation, and most recently worked as a brand strategist for NASA's Kennedy Space Center and New Orleans Jazz Fest. I have a varied and unconventional background spanning multiple disciplines including public health, eCommerce, branding, event production, and digital strategy, all of which has made me into a better, more empathetic designer capable of leveraging various mediums to solve complex challenges. I'm most excited when I can merge worlds and connect across boundaries - whether its connecting brick and mortar startups to the online storefront, or examining tech and innovation alongside community development.
Oh. And I love wine. I have a Level 2 WSET Certification in Wine and Spirits. I frequently host tastings for friends, friends of friends, and entire offices! (and myself, let's be honest).
I work with a range of brands to craft compelling narratives, creating delightful user experiences and interactions from research and discovery through visual design. In my work with NASA's Kennedy Space Center, I partnered with National Geographic and Smithsonian to develop a digital strategy combining Kennedy's target user insights with the current developments and innovations of company's like Blue Origins, ULA, and SpaceX to inspire the next generation of space explorers.
Beyond the digital, I've curated live conversations in the tech space, specifically around diversity and inclusion in the startup space. Most recently, I leveraged my design thinking background to create, curate, and produce the "City as a Startup" Summit, held during New Orleans Entrepreneur Week.
Whether empathizing with the nuanced challenges of a back-end developer, the frustrations of a community organizer, or the pain points of a million-dollar travel + tourism client, I believe that cross-discipline and cross-industry collaboration are crucial to making significant strides in improving a product, service, and overall experience, and that's why I work to have my hand in all of it.
Who I've Worked With
I believe great design is informed by the “why” of a user’s behavior, and that a user’s goals are at the root of that “why”. (The "five whys" often gets me where I need to be). I also believe that empathy is crucial to understanding those goals, and that big, imaginative ideation generates solutions (I sleep next to my whiteboard for God's sake!). I follow an iterative design process, tightly defining the problem before reaching far and wide for ideation inspiration. I test my design hypotheses early and often.
I believe good design puts the user first, that great design lies at the intersection of business and user goals, and that the best design integrates future-focused technology along with these goals to create solutions previously unimaginable.
